50s 60s Fire and Ice Sherman Brooch and Earrings
I used to be so much more knowledgeable about Sherman than I am now: it's been a long time since I've sold any so I've forgotten most of what I've known! That said, you can click HERE to get more information about Gustave Sherman, what an artist!
I'm not sure if this is a true set, since the brooch is signed in script and the earrings in block letters, but they are a beautiful match!
Prong-set, sparkling aurora borealis rhinestones. Lots of flashing pinks here and of course, all top-grade Swarovski crystals.
The brooch is comprised of graduated sizes of navettes, done as a wreath. Finished with a circle of little chatons, which looks like a flower. Closes with a pin-back with a safety catch.
The earrings are clip-ons and echo the shapes of the brooch, though instead of a wreath, they're flowers.
Both pieces appear to be gold plated.
Condition:
Very Good. Note in the close-ups (and remember, these are very magnified), there are a few of the rhinestones with that have light scratching. I promise you, these are so light as to be nearly non-existent to anyone looking at them, and they detract very, very little. The pin-back *may* have the very slightest bend in it, does not compromise the piece at all. It's a beautiful set.
