Luis Estévez was born in Cuba in 1930. He attended the Traphagen School of Fashion, then went to Paris to work for Patou for two years. In 1955 he began designing under his own name at Grenelle-Estévez, a venture that lasted until 1968. He also designed swimwear for Sea Darlings in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1972 he designed for Universal Studios. In 1977 Estévez began doing design work for private clients, many of whom were Hollywood stars. He retired from designing in 1997. - Courtesy Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource

It's always a thrill to obtain an Estevez, whether one of his elegant older designs from the 50s or the newer, still elegant, fashions from the 70s. I love this dress.

Done in deep shades of wine and burgundy, the dress is a low-cut strapless, with the bodice done in burgundy velvet. Beneath the long, flowing outer layer of chiffon is a sheath with a little bit of a-line flare. Beyond the sexy bare front, the back becomes dramatic with the addition of a long velvet train. Very nice details with hand-sewing at the inner bodice and placement of snaps at the outer chiffon. Closes at the back with a long polyester zipper and of course, the snaps.

You'll be a stunning stand-out in this gorgeous Estevez creation.

Condition:

Very Good. A couple of fabric pulls on the under-skirt, can't be seen because of the outer chiffon. A couple of pulls in the chiffon at the upper tummy, nearly invisible. Again, a couple more pulls near the hemline which no one will ever see. These fabric pulls detract very little as they're quite hard to see. I'm pricing it lower because of these small flaws.
