50s 60s Sue Brett Velvet & Satin Cocktail Dress 35b/25w
A beautiful dress for a holiday cocktail party! Manufactured by Sue Brett (a favorite label of mine, their dresses are so cute), it appears to be a cotton velvet.
Deep black (some photos have been lightened to show details). Satin piping around the neckline and sleeves. Darts at the bustline. The waistline sports a thick band of black satin, cummerbund style, which catches with a buckle at the back of the waist. A hidden pocket at each hip. Back kick pleat. Closes at the back with a long nylon zipper.
Condition:
Very Good. Looks lightly worn. It appears that the original zipper was replaced, nicely done. There is a tiny mend at the top of the cummerbund, right side, at the seam, virtually invisible. Wear at the buckle (see second to last photo), detracts a bit, but hardly noticeable. It's a beauty!
