Vintage 70s 80s Camel Snakeskin Mules Shoes 7A
After a little sleuthing, I figured out that the company that had these shoes manufactured for them (in Hong Kong) was called "Margo's La Mode". The company was founded in the 1930s and it operated 72 stores in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. It merged with Alexander's, Inc. in May of 1979 and all of their stores were closed in 1996. Sigh.
I'd say these sexy shoes are from the late 70s, early 80s. Clear pliable plastic over the vamps, adorned with strips of camel-colored snakeskin. The leather at the sides and heels is cream-colored; the soles are man-made material.
Condition:
Very Good. Very little wear to these pretty shoes. The plastic has a bit of yellowing but it's not noticeable when worn. Please note from the photo of the backs of the shoes: the right shoe heel is slightly off-kilter from the shoe bed. It looks like a manufacturer's defect. It's not at all loose and I don't believe it would affect the wear; certainly no one will notice while worn. As you can see from the photos, the right foot bed has a red mark on it and a gash in the leather above the label. The soles and heel tips show they were worn very little. Gently worn.
Measurements:
The shoes are marked 8/8.5AA, but they fit more like a 7A. Please check your measurements before purchasing!
