Vintage 70s MOVIE STAR Fiery Red Peignoir Set Ruffles Pleats Large
The tag is pretty washed out, but tracing the RN, it was revealed that this set was manufactured by Movie Star, which seems to have had a pretty complicated past. It was established in 1946 and the company was bought into by Sanmark-Stardust in 1987. The company (Movie Star) produced under the brand names "Movie Star", "Cinema Etoile" and "Cinestar". Sanmark-Stardust changed its name to Movie Star at the start of 1993.
This peignoir set has it all goin' on! The color is a fiery red and I would say it falls on the orange side of the red spectrum. The gown is simply designed with a very low-cut bodice and curly pleated ruffles that wrap about the neck and flow down into the décolletage. The nylon is opaque and shimmery. It has ties that wrap around from the front and close at the back. The robe is sheer, floaty chiffon, with the ruffles once again appearing at the neckline down below the bust. Smocked shoulders. The angel sleeves are pleated and finished with lettuce edging. Closes at the waist with a self belt. Fabulous!
Condition:
Very Good. Tags are pretty washed out. There is a dark spot on the left shoulder, very, very light and hard to see, but it's there (see photo>>>). There are two small holes in the chiffon at the front of the robe, right side, about hip high. They are small and have to be looked for to be spotted. I've priced it accordingly.
