50s Adele Simpson Silk Taffeta Party Dress X-Small 34b/24w

$328
X-Small | Silk Taffeta | Taupey
Stunning! Adele Simpson started her career as a designer at Ben Gershal in 1927. Her sister was employed there, and Gershal hired Adele after asking her sister who made her dresses. In 1942 she went to work at Mary Lee, where she worked under her own name by 1944. She purchased the company in 1949 and remamed it Adele Simpson, Inc. (Information courtesy Vintage Fashion Guild)

Gorgeous silk brocade fabric with a lovely crisp taffeta swish. Light as a feather and dreamy to wear. The color is somewhat changeable: in certain light it looks like a lavender-taupe, in others it looks like a milk chocolate taupe. Either way, it's gorgeous. Low cut shoulders, pleated bodice. The nipped waist is embellished with a little gathered buckled sash. Pleated and gathered full skirt (shown here withOUT a crinoline, amazing body in this fabric). Partially lined, this dress closes at the back with a long metal zipper. A classic, stunning New Look party dress.
