60s Malihini Hawaii Party Dress 38b
Malihini was a family-owned Hawaiian clothing company. It was owned by Raymond and Mildred Sasaki and their children, with several generations of the family working in the company that began in 1948. This beautiful dress positively glows! From the Malihini Designer's Collection, it is perfection for an evening party. The fabric is polished cotton done in blue-green turquoise with painted gold accents. The bust is gathered and accented with the empire waist and a big bow placed directly below the bust. Big open pleat at the front which is framed with a gold floral border. Pinked seams. Closes at the back with a long polyester zipper. Gorgeous!
Condition:
Very Good. I'd say Excellent, but it has been altered, but only slightly. When I got the dress, it had been taken in at the bust; I took out the stitching and there are ultra-light stitch marks which no one will ever notice. It appears this was longer, probably a maxi dress, but it was cut and hemmed. Nicely done.
